This piece was inspired by the ritual my mom and I created when I was about 8 years old. Every weekend she would sit me in the bathtub to teach me the ins and outs of detangling, conditioning and braiding my hair. With this piece I wanted to commemorate the connection, care and love we shared in those moments. The routine and ritual of my hair care have always been a way to make me feel connected to my culture.
